This is the best place to get eyeglasses and sunglasses! Gil is the "eyeglass whisperer." He always knows what will look best on us and makes the perfect recommendations that we may not have picked out on our own. Sue and the team do a first-rate job of fitting, preparing and caring for customers. We are moving from Tampa and before leaving we purchased new glasses from Optic Shop because they are irreplaceable!

I would like to share my experience with this business. I purchased a pair of Prada sunglasses from LensCrafters on June 21, 2023. I loved the frames, but they did not make the color of the lenses that was displayed. I called The Optic Shop to see if they could match the tint of the lenses and make them progressive lens and they said it could be done. I spoke with John in the St. Pete store and asked how much would be the estimated cost and he told me around $200.00. I was ok with that pricing, so I drove to South Tampa store. A lady named Sue helped me. She told me the lenses that I wanted would be $600.00! I was irritated that that was not even close to the price that I was quoted from John in the St. Pete store. I agreed to pay that price with the expectation that they would be able to match the lenses that came with frames. I brought them in on June 26th, 2023.

Fast forward to July 27, 2023, the store has had the lenses redone three times. The color was not even close to the original lenses. Sue was rude and had an attitude to me every time I went into the store. The store had my glasses over a month and could not complete what was agreed, so I asked for a refund. She processed my refund by slamming my credit card and receipt on the counter at me. The Optic Shop did give me a refund, however Sue damaged my frames because she ripped the lenses out of my frames with anger and attitude. She damaged both sides of my frames. I wanted to leave as fast as I could, because I felt so uncomfortable. I did not notice they were damaged until I left.

I just wanted to share my experience. I am left with damaged frames, and I cannot wear them because they are not prescription lenses. I have attached pic of frames that she damaged. I would never go to this store ever again. I would give 0 stars if I could to rate my experience. Buyer beware, I should have walked out when I met Sue with her rude attitude.

When I turned 40 which was 30 years ago, I cried and threw a temper tantrum fit denying that I needed reading glasses. By then my 18 years studying koine Greek and translating the Greek New Testament into modern english created significant eye strain. The eyewear from then until only recently never gave me relief. Then entered Laura in my life who introduced me to Gil and Sue at the Optic Shop on Howard. WOW! My clinical patients without exception noticed the incredibly stylish eyewear Gil and Sue with Laura's approval. The best part is I actually look forward to wearing the precise lenses strength in my two reading glasses and the beautiful Akoni sunglasses as ZERO eye strain providing at ease tele-behavioral health clinical care and the weekly clinical treatment team meetings. So, Gil and Sue have become my collaborators in my success as a comfortable old guy made a bit more tolerable to look at by my family, friends and patients! Kudo's to the amazing Optic Shop professionals! You WILL NOT ever again be troubled with eye strain and awkward looking eyewear once you are an Optic Shop customer... It will be that simple.

This place has a great selection of eyeglasses and sunglasses. Even better than their great selection is their customer service. Gill is an absolute master at fitting frames for your face. I've purchased probably 20+ expensive pair of sunglasses over he past 10 years and I'm happier than I've ever been with the pair I just bought. I won't shop any wear else from now on.

After accidentally disengaging the arm of my IC! Berlin eyeglasses, I visited the Optic Shop to see if they could be repaired. Sue was able to fix my glasses in under five minutes, and would not accept payment! Both Sue and Gil were extremely friendly, and provided excellent customer service. They have 100% earned my future eyeglass and sunglass business. Goodbye, LensCrafters!

The Optic Shop was the only place that could cut these lenses for my sunglasses.

Lenscrafters was unable to craft the lenses.

Bloomingdale’s Vision couldn’t do it.

Neither could Florida Optic.

Multiple small shops also couldn’t do it,

The Optic Shop was the only place in Tampa able to cut custom frame lenses.
They are the actual Lens Crafters of Tampa Bay.

After receiving unfriendly and unprofessional service elsewhere in my quest to get my sunglass temples adjusted, the Optic Shop was a breath of fresh air! Even though they were short-staffed and I was a walk-in, they made the time to help me in a quick and efficient manner. They were patient with the adjustments and helpful with advising me on the best fit. I really appreciate the time and care you put into a request that did not generate the store any income.
